Don Botelho

Executive Director

Don Botelho, respectfully called “Coach Bo,” has a long history of athletic administration:

  • 1960 – 1964 Assistant Football Coach, University of Hawaii
  • 1965 – 1973 Head Football Coach, Damien Memorial School
  • 1967 – 1974 Athletic Director, Damien Memorial School
  • 1974 – 1997 Athletic Director, Pac-Five Athletics
  • 1974 – 2003 Head Football Coach, Pac-Five Football
  • 1974 – 2002 Athletic Director, Mid-Pacific Institute
  • 1989 – 2003 State Football Coordinator

On March 20th 2003, Coach Bo was appointed as the Executive Director of the ILH by a selection committee.  As Executive Director of the ILH, Coach Bo also serves as the ILH representative to the National Federation of High School Athletics meetings and conferences, and serves as a board member of the Hawaii High School Athletic Association.  As the HHSAA Football Coordinator, Coach Bo serves as the Hawaii representative on the National Federation Football Rules Committee and is a National Federation Certified Football Rules Interpreter.

Aside from his responsibilities as Executive Director of the ILH, Coach Bo continues to serve as Executive Director of the Hawaii High School Athletic Directors Association, and also participates in community activities such as, serving on the organizing committee for the Hawaii Union Builders Foundation Goodwill Football Classic, a board member with the Oahu Interscholastic Association Foundation, and a board member of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.

Throughout his years of participation in athletics, Coach Bo has been recognized with awards such as:

  • Lima Foa’i” – Samoan Athletes in Motion, The Samoan Community “Humanitarian Award” – 1982
  • University of Hawaii ‘Circle of Honor’ (University of Hawaii Athletics Hall of Fame) Inducted 2000
  • National Federation of High School Associations ‘Citation’  in recognition of outstanding contributions to the mission of the National Federation of High Associations – July 7, 2000
  • Mid-Pacific Institute “M” Club Hall of Fame, inducted 2005
  • Roosevelt High School Hall of Fame “Rough Rider Forever” inducted 2007
  • National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association “State Award of Merit” 1989

Georges Gilbert

Assistant Executive Director

Georges Gilbert

Currently serving as the Assistant Director of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu. He has been with the ILH since 2003. Previously, he was the assistant athletic director at Saint Louis School.  

A Former high school coach in boys/girls basketball, girls softball and boys bowling. He has also served as the ILH sport coordinator for judo, air riflery, precision riflery and football.

Recently became the Co-State of Hawaii Director to the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA), he is a certified CAA exam instructor and LTI class instructor and is the Hawaii representative on the NIAAA Awards Committee.

Besides being the president of his condo association, he is also a board officer or committee member of several local organizations, such as the Hawaii Interscholastic Athletic Directors Association (HIADA), Athletic Directors & Coaches Association (ADCA), Hawaii Union Builders Foundation, National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, OC16 Goodwill Volleyball Classic and Nissan Goodwill Softball Classic, HUB Goodwill Football Classic and HHSAA Football Committee amongst others.

For nearly 25 years, he has worked in various positions at athletic events with local, regional and national television, radio and print media organizations at the professional, collegiate and high school levels.

He is a graduate of Kamehameha School-Kapalama and the University of Hawaii-Manoa.

INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE OF HONOLULU

Celebrating over 100 years of existence, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu currently consists of 26 athletic programs. Member schools are located all across the island of Oahu. There are 20 co-ed member schools along with two member schools for boys only and currently three member schools for girls only. Nearly 16,000 students participate within the 37 different ILH sports.
